Ink & Twink

I have been stockpiling stash including scrapbooking paper for nigh on 20 years when I attended my very first "stamping" party with my sister...

When I check out what others have its actually quite modest - but when I get an idea to make something it takes ages to rummage through it all and find what I want LOL...

All that said I remembered scrapbooking paper I got with white pre-embossed images on it and while on the bus on the way to work had a brainwave to use some of it...

It is called "Color Me" by Hot Off The Press [2010] and is available at PaperWishes - and there are a number of different sheets - Color Me Flowers, and Color Me Borders and Tags are the two I have used - I also have Color Me Tapestry, Color Me Leaves, Color Me Butterflies and Color Me Swirls in my stash - and as they are scrapbooking sized sheets I am gonna get heaps of cards out of them... [I usually get 2 or 4 sheets when something grabs me - so I will probably have them for quite a long time - of course my sister might want one or two when she sees them!!]

Anyhoo...
here is what it looks like plain...
a creamy image and glossy embossing
And here is my go at adding a "bit" of colour...

Nice hey.... I am making a few cards with no sentiments so they can be "multifunctional"...

Materials used: Color Me papers: Flowers, borders & tags which included the two butterflies by HOTP, Stampin Up Daffodil Yellow, Certainly Celery & Lovely Lilac inks applied with Inkydinkydoo sponge applicators, Twinkling H20's on the flowers, and highlights in clear Kindyglitz[not yet dry when the photo was done]

Rainbow Droplets

Yippeeeee - my prize from Di at Pixies Crafty Workshop arrived and I just couldn't keep myself from using it...

But first as always there was just a little something from Di to make a personal connection!! What cute little owl - and on the back - Enjoy! I most certainly will Di - such a lovely and generous lady xx

I used black card stock from my stash, a snippet of Stampin Up vanilla card to stamp on and inked up the stamp with Emboss Dual pens - highlighted the bottom of the droplets with Kindyglitz...

I loved the result so much I couldn't wait til the Kindyglitz was dry to photograph and post...

The stamp ? You all know the stamp...
Its Waterdroplets by Ryn Tanaka of Designs by Ryn  course... so hard to buy cos its always sold out we were so grateful to Di for offering a number as prizes ...

Bejewelled

Took a while for this one to click into place - I did the black die cuts two days ago and had them sitting on my desk on top of white card... Then I saw a card with distressed ink background [my sister again] and decided to do a background and voila!! But I bet you weren't expecting this outcome...
[Di - LOL]...

Materials Used: Memory Box Arboscello Tree die, Snippets of black card stock, bling, silk flower & bling from stash, flower image from free paper received in a magazine a long time ago... Tim Holtz distress inks: tumbled glass, mustard seeds, shabby shutters and milled lavender.

WOYWW # 212

Hi Everyone...

Its Wednesday again - and it is my favourite time of the week cos it kick starts my mojo which seems to turn itself off on Mondays & Tuesdays...

I have been a busy little bee in other ways though - supplied all of my creations [105] to my cousin so he can put them in his shop for me - am hoping they sell well so I can stock up on more goodies recoup some of the costs involved with this fantastic all consuming hobby!!!

Just before we get to my little bit of desk - why not pop over to see  something sensational
- my sisters blog - Cathy's card spot - she has the art of using butterflies well and truly covered...

Now - my desk at the moment - I feel like I cheat cos I move everything out from a pile and spread it out for the photo's...

A few bits and pieces going on...

This free paper was stuck in the middle of a pile of books - so I thought I would liberate it and see what happens...

Xmas stuff still hanging around - I tested my dies on the old traditional red & green but ended up making cream and pink poinsettia cards - I guess these will get used up eventually... the xmas stuff is sitting on top of some card stock pads I grabbed from an arty shop called RIOT - reduced from $7.99 to $4.99 - its not suitable for a card base but it can go through a die machine and decorate a card no probs...

This is some of my "colour" stash - Twinkling H20's and metallic paints - H20's are in the drawers of my carousel too, some Kindyglitz and some Mica Powders - that I have never put to use!!

This is my bling drawer - both adhesive & non-adhesive - you can never have enough of this stuff...

And the actual project in progress right now - using my arboscello tree and some distressed card - still thinking...... hang on - there are no chocolates - what is the world coming to???

Black & White Wishes

Using up more NBUS [Never Before Used Stuff]... I HATE finding adhesive bling and double sided tape losing its effectiveness over time and just because I bought so much why should this be so?
The solution? Its time to use it up... so that's just what I decided to do... well its a start anyway!!

Materials Used: Black silk flower, bling, sentiment stickers & card stock from stash, stem is a memory box die & silver paper, black border coloured with a Tombow.

Green Baby

De-constructing & Up- cycling is such fun - here I used up some more of a baby shower invite I received - only a piece of card with some sacking attached left - and I don't know when that little snippet will come in handy - still you never know...

The centre onesie and paper button are from the invite - the star in the middle is a snippet - I finally got around to using a NBUS [Never Been Used Stuff] - my little teeny onesie punch used to chop up old coloured office paper ...                    Kindy glitz for highlights sticker & card stock from Stash.

Poinsettia - 2

Looks like poinsettias will be my Chrissy theme this year as I am having fun right now experimenting with my 2 new dies...

Using the honeycomb embossed card I created with my Fancy That honeycomb die [yippee] as my background I distressed 1 piece of card stock with Tim Holz distress Inks Peeled Paint & Shabby Shutters and another piece with Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick then put them thru my Big Shot - leaves & centre from my Die-namics poinsettia die and petals using my Nellie designs poinsettia die. I distressed the embossed background with Milled Lavender and Shabby Shutters. Then clear kindy glitzed the edges of the petals and blinged the middle... Memory box label die and then a sticker from my stash.                              The whole poinsettia is made using snippets from my stash...

WOYWW #211

Despite being home most of the day - just popped out for some groceries - I was still unprepared for this week's trek across the globe... its now 8pm and I have just taken my photos and settled in - for Brisbane Australia its flippin freezin'!!

I took a minute to have a really quick peep at Speshink 'cos Marks blog was on top of my reading list and I couldn't resist - he has converted a Tando-Creative advent calendar into a Dalek - looks amazing... pop over if you get a chance...

OK now for my puny little desk which compared to most is clean as a whistle... don't know whether to feel guilty or proud LOL

I was all set up for photographing so left it there so you could all see how sophisticated it is - and maybe explain why I have a hard time getting my photos right sometimes...
Not a lot of natural light so its all under artificial light - sometimes they look fab others look disgusting... but then I am no expert either.

Now for the breakdown:

Mucking around with my 2 new poinsettia dies - the two strips of marbled paper are actually side bits off pre-printed stationery... looks like Chrissy cards will be a major focus for me as I get nearer to putting my creations into a shop for sale - my cousin is kindly giving me a bit of space in his PAWN shop at Beenleigh Traders [this is their FB link] - so I am very grateful...

Finally deconstructed the baby shower invite and have already used some of it - still have some blossoms and cats floating around and it may be hard to see but I saw how to use a die to create an embossed image and gave it a go using my honeycomb die - its all just a matter of getting the sandwich right - and it looks good - so my envy over not having a honeycomb ef has immediately disappeared now... oh and hiding underneath all this is a list of blog challenges that I am working on - the list I mean - so many blogs out there so little time...

I have read 6 1/2 zombie books so far - and my daughter gave me In The Company of Ogres to read - which sounds in the same vein - bit it isn't - if any one knows Hitchikers Guide to The Galaxy and the other books by Douglas Adams - this book is in that genre - it is hilarious the author is A. Lee Martinez. The dvd on top is a copy of Mama - the "horror" movie that was out recently - daughter again wants me to watch it... maybe... The dragonfly and snail stamp are out of a borrowed Stampin Up set - the hearts are self adhesive from a sale at Lincraft... and of course haven't done my sports cards yet... but I have 2 full days left of my holidays so watch this space...

There you go - apart from the Lindt Caramel Chocolate Balls - replacing the maltesers on my desk it is as tidy as ever...

If you do want to check out other creative workdesks around the world - hop over to the Stamping Ground where Julia Dunnit hosts the biggest and bestest blog hop in the world
[that's what I reckon anyway]...

Pink with a Snail

I made this Orange & brown floral card earlier in the year...
and it is sitting in my basket at work when one of my workmates spies it and says -
"Oooh I love this card - can you make me one for my Mum's Birthday?"
Of course I say - what is her favourite colour?
"Well I really like the black and the texture but can you do the flowers in hot pink?"
Yep no worries...
"And do you have a snail?"
Um no I don't think I have a snail stamp - but I'll check..
"Cos that's my nickname and I want Mum to see it's from me when she looks at the card..."
OK - I'll check and if I don't I'll see what I can do...
"And she loves pearls..."
I can use pearls in the flower centres... how old will she be?
"65 can you put that on there? That'll personalise it a bit won't it?"
Yep - no worries at all - so Black with texture - hot pink flowers, pearls, 65, and happy birthday with a snail on the front... I'll get that sorted for you...
"And can you write all the stuff on the inside?"
What do you want inside?
"Dear Mum... "
No - I don't do that - but you can type it up on the computer and print it out... andwe can put it in...
"No - that's OK - I'll do it - but can you put have a fabulous birthday inside - like the one on that other card?"
Yep - no worries..
"And can you make the paper inside pink?"
OK - all good....

Here is the result...

I hope she likes it!!
Cant see anyone else wanting a snail in the corner of a birthday card for a  65 year old lady ... LOL

Materials used: Silk & Paper flowers, pearls, stickers and cardstock from stash. Stampin Up Argyle ef and snail stamp, Label coloured with H20's.

Peace

I was very excited to pick up this QuicKutz peace sign die for $1 at the show...
I got one for a girlfriend as well! Cathy got one too... I was so silly cos now I wish I had grabbed a few more for sharing the love - but the purse strings were getting a bit tight and the stand where they were on sale The Papercraft Hub - was chokkers with shoppers so I wouldn't have got back in there if I had tried...

The sentiment is from a Paper Tray Ink set done in Tsukineko Tuxedo Black... oh and one of the die cuts is coloured with Adirondack butterscotch ink...

Creamy Christmas [Poinsettia -1]

Bit of gardening, bit of laundry, bit of coffee - while waiting for Kindy Glitz to dry... should have stayed off FB though - do I really need the top score in Bejewelled Blitz???

I got a poinsettia die at the craft fair with my sister - but I went to a favourite haunt with a friend as she wanted a poinsettia stamp - no success - but we did find another die & of course I had to have it cos its different... so this is mostly the result of the Nellie's multiframe poinsettia die...

I cut the centre & leaves from snippets using my Die-namics poinsettia die... and the lacey strip cut from snippets using a Stampin Up punch. The leaves are coloured with H20's, gold Kindy Glitz [a brand of glitter glue] on the edges of the poinsettia, ribbon is the shoulder hangers from a piece of clothing, bling kraft card & sticker from stash.
This is what the two poinsettia dies
look like - amazing!!
