WOYWW #221

Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday...??

Here is mine... we just got back mins ago...

6 sheets of dp, 7 bling in colours I don't have - who knew there were so many?? 4 pks of cards - 6 for $1 with envelopes... bargain, white paper flowers to replenish my stash and a mini sentiment stamp pack - total $20...

I know I know - why do I need more? Because she who dies with the most wins!!! LOL...

On the left of this lot of goodies is some pre cut Kraft cards that I got from SU over a year ago and took me over an hour to remove all the fiddly bits...

Above the new stuff is a red stripey card in progress, stamped butterflies and baby images ready to be fussy cut, a colour wheel which was stored with the set of Faber Castell Artists Watercolour pencils which I won in a magazine contest 17 years ago and only just used yesterday on this POST...

That was quick you say - for me anyway - well yup - not a lot happening in my little corner of the world at this stage...

If you attend T for Tuesday at Altered Book Lover hosted by the fabulous Bleubeard & Elizabeth you can see another desk as well as the below...
I got a nice little surprise from a friend when she found out about my work situation:

"The Happy Bag"
A marble for those days when you think you have lost yours...
A piece of string to hold it together when everything seems to be falling apart...
A heart to remind you that someone loves you...
A teddy bear for a nice big hug when you need one...
An eraser to make all those little mistakes go away...
A coin so you will never be completely broke...
Attached to the bag was a smiley badge - what a lovely thing - I gave her a big cuddle...
made me feel all warm & fuzzy!!

If you want to join in this fabulous WOYWW blog hop pop over to Stamping Ground where hostess Julia Dunnit has all the goss...

Blue Butterfly Birthday

Well I see lots of butterflies over the next few posts cos I am finally breaking out some NBUS - Kaisercraft butterfly stamps I have had for at least a year... and Faber Castell Artist watercolour pencils I won in a magazine competition almost 17 years ago - honest never used - but then the stash I won there was three sets of watercolours and pastels and stuff - my sister uses water colour pencils so well I thought it was about time...

Materials used: Kaisercraft Tigerlilly stamp inked up with versacolor royal blue, embossed with polysparkle ep, coloured with Faber Castell watercolour pencil, sentiment using EZCut paper dies, bling and white linen card base from stash.

I thought about using a flourish or something else to fill up white space but nothing I tried looked any good so I left it well enough alone... there is always the opportunity to create another card!!

I am linking up to the following challenges with this creation

Flutter By Wednesday #249 - Emboss It! You can use wet or dry embossing along with your butterfly or fairy! My butterfly is wet embossed...

T for Tuesday #7

Hi everyone... a little earlier than usual for me... I came straight home and dumped everything down to get a cool drink... its fruit punch cordial with plain mineral water.... if you would like to join everyone for a cuppa and a natter pop over to Altered Book Lover and see Elizabeth for the details...

I'm not officially clearing out my desk at work - but its amazing the stuff that gathers over the years...
Someone gave me a glass chess set cos if I didn't want it it was going in the bin - I don't own a chess set so I gladly took hold of it... the shoe box full of cards is my stock that sits near me at work - when someone needs a card they pop on over for a gander... as I am away for a few days I thought I would bring it home and see if anything needs "freshening up"... the white nag has promotional stuff - water bottle, lanyard, earphones... the usual stuff will give to Daughter when she next visits... this is the table where my big shot dies &ef's live in the middle of my loungeroom... looks like a pig sty but its hiding all the dust!! Another job on the list lol...

By the way if you read Elizabeth's blog this week she pointed out how the naked eye doesn't always pick up what the camera does by showing us her fabulous roses in the front garden...
Well her comment reminded me of a post I made - not that long ago - where right in the middle of the photo - albeit in the background my cat had left a deposit... I didn't notice until I was reviewing comments  - eeeeyyyyoooowwww  and no-one has noticed - of course I shared with my sister and now she checks all my posts very carefully - I don't think I will ever live it down... but I am lazy cheeky enough that its still posted... lol

Our morning bus has a driver named Brad and he always has a cheery greeting for everyone - especially the "girls" - we have called ourselves Brad's Harem - I only told them yesterday about my work situation and today one of the lovelies gave me a little surprise today - a purple [my fave colour] organza gift bag with the following contents and this lovely note:
"The Happy Bag"
A marble for those days when you think you have lost yours...
A piece of string to hold it together when everything seems to be falling apart...
A heart to remind you that someone loves you...
A teddy bear for a nice big hug when you need one...
An eraser to make all those little mistakes go away...
A coin so you will never be completely broke...
Attached to the bag was a smiley badge - what a lovely thing - I gave her a big cuddle...
made me feel all warm & fuzzy!!

Have a great week everyone - Thanks for stopping by... Mxx

Welcome Yani

Was asked to create a card to welcome a new little boy to the world - with a name of Yani Nate Joachim Ionniades - it was a bit of time before I wrapped my head around what to do...

I decided to use a watermark effect on the pale blue card base made up of the letters in his first 3 names, I used Memories Baby Blue ink pad and old MUMS letter stamps I have had forever...
My Moon Baby is a PSX stamp embossed in ultrafine silver ep, coloured with Twinkling H20's then fussy cut and placed with double sided dots to raise it up. Silver alphabet stickers used to make up the sentiment...

WOYWW #220

Another one bites the dust!!! Wednesday that is - time to trek around the globe visiting crafters...

I am lucky enough to stick in peoples minds when they are clearing out - a friend handed me these sheets of cardboard - they may not be card bases but they will certainly take to embossing and die cutting... The red & yellow striped cards were Work Christmas party invites from 2009 which I found in one of my garage crates - some deconstruction is in the cards [pun intended] I love it so much I also used in in my T for Tuesday post LOL...

The pad of papers is what is left of my freebie with craft magazine stash... slowly using it up!!

That's about it for this week - I have been busy making cards but they are all in previous posts - if you would like to know what WOYWW is all about then pop over to Stamping Ground where our hostess Julia Dunnit takes very good care of us all!!

Sympathy Owl

Had a request for a sympathy with an owl on it - the recipient loves owls so the requester thought it would be nice...

In amongst all the borrowed stash I found this Stampin Up owl but thought it was a bit cheerful - so embossing white on white and then distressing with different shades of brown I thought helped bring things down a notch...

The sentiment stamp is from Our Daily Bread Designs
"May time heal your heart and memories comfort your soul"
The flowers and pearls are from my stash.

T 4 Tuesday #6

Hi there - cruise on over to Altered Book Lover and enjoy a cuppa while visiting crafty people sharing stories, crafts and a cuppa thanks to our hostess Elizabeth...

Vanilla Latte this week - I probably shouldn't at 10 to 10 at night but its sooooo cold....

I had just finished making the card in the background which is a with sympathy including an owl - and I guess the colouring is what led me to believe I needed a coffee LOL...

On the right are some "work" party invitations I snaffled a couple of years ago and just found in one of my garage crates - looks like some deconstruction is on the cards [pun intended]...

Finally apologies for the blatant "product placement" under my cutting mat but the big paper bag makes things so much cleaner when I get a bit messy... and if you didn't notice it sorry for drawing your attention!!!

Work wise no changes - careers management interview with an external company tomorrow to see what I want to do next - at 50 - sleep would be nice...

Thanks again for all your lovely comments and have a great week - Thanks for stopping by... Mxx

Peace Smile

I picked up a craft magazine for the first time the other day - they are a bit out of my budget usually - but there was queue at the pharmacist so I browsed while I waited - anyway - attached was a fabulous 6x6 ef of peacocks - there was also a tiny stamp set but the stamps weren't moulded properly so I am thinking of discarding them.... As soon as I was able I ran it through my machine using "aqua" coloured card stock - and I just loved it... but 6x6 - I needed a card base!! Luckily I had a white one and stuck it on the front - then I decided it needed distressing so I used DI Tumbled glass and versa colour Navy - finally my goodness what am I gonna stick in the middle - raiding my stash I came up with some NBUS - so here I have a brand new item and a NBUS item I have had for years....

Materials used: ef from Australian Simply Cards Magazine issue 58, Unity Stamps sentiment, Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass DI, Navy Versa colour, foam tape and Aqua card stock from stash...

Zig Zag Birthday

Borrowed my sisters chevron die which she received as a prize from the lovely Di at Pixies Crafty Snippets Playground, cut from snippets of freebie dp received with a craft magazine, add silk flowers, a brad and sticker from my stash all laid on a bronze card base.... my only dilemma then was what background to photograph on and it makes a huge difference.... I think I prefer the black...

I used clear Kindyglitz to add sparkle and of course took the pic while its still wet as once it dries it almost disappears in photography!! I quite like this dp - and I have a stamp very similar but I don't think the paper deserved to be covered up!!

Flighty Butterflies

This creation is all sticker tape, stickers, distress inks and Twinkling H20's on white card base...

Funnily enough the colours are way different IRL - top & bottom of the card are the same dark colour using Lipstick & Spun Sugar distress inks with a strip in the middle of Mustard Seed over the top of Spun Sugar which looks orange... the card stock has bowed with the inks so when photographing the inks look graded dark at the bottom to light at the top...

WOYWW #219

If you want to know more about WOYWW [Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday] pop on over to Stamping Ground where Julia Dunnit hosts the best blog hop around creative desks of the world!!

I am cheating big time here and using a pic I took this morning - but posted for T for Tuesday hosted by Bleubeard & Elizabeth at Altered Book Lover... another fab blog hop...

Anyhoo - here is my wrokdesk [this is my most common typo converting work to wrok... lol]

This is how my desk looks sometimes - when I have finished a project and am ready to start again on something new... Left my carousel with doublesided tape in view, then some kindyglitz and liquid pearls I have been using this week, a couple of cards I am working on, on top of my mini drawers is some paper doilies I scored - 50 for $2 at a bargain shop - not very intricate but doilies none the less, right is a plastic box with handles at each side and a clasp in front - I reckon it looks good enough as a pseudo pirate chest which my 17 yr old daughter wants to take to the Oz version of Comicon - called Supernova she dresses up and has a ball... there are also two bags of baby rattle embellishments got at the bargain shop, and finally stickertape that I forgot I had was dragged out of my stash... The black tape has already made it onto the black & white card you can see, the blue was used on a baby card see previous post HERE - and a nice hot caramel latte - which was delish...
that's it for me this week .. looking forward to globe trotting now...

Oh before I forget again - welcome to some new followers - Trisha Too & Monica - glad to have you visit!!

T for Tuesday #5

Whew - its been a hectic week - interview feedback, discussion with career planners, the word spreading around work and people stopping by for a chat - so I really needed this one...

This is the first photo on T for Tuesday I have actually taken on my "workdesk" - and it shows things in progress as well as the view I have every day when doing my crafting... yes it is my lounge room - being on my own my home is my craft place LOL... and the caramel latte was delish!!

If you would like to catch up over a cuppa head on over to Altered Book Lover where Bleubeard and Elizabeth will greet you with open arms and a friendly smile...

Scene

Highlighted with Kindyglitz and coloured with distress inks one of my favourite techniques - I started with freebie green dp from a craft magazine & the Stampin Up image borrowed from a friend... mounted on Kraft card...

But it just looks too pale... so I added more distressing using versa colour cubes in purple & green and I think that made all the difference... then I chose my sentiment sticker and it was one of those that gives you grief trying to get the negatives out of the a & b etc... so this took way longer than planned...

Happy with the end result though...
